The exhibit documents the contrast between the lives of public housing residents and the deteriorating conditions of their apartments. Photographs by Ana Brigida Moreira show the long-deferred maintenance needs despite the Bloomberg administration's claims of addressing the issues. The opening reception is on Friday, March 30th at 5:30pm at the Bronx Documentary Center to bring attention to the need for Mayor Bloomberg to further address protecting this housing and residents' health if he is serious about his efforts.

HOW THE OTHER HALF (STILL) LIVES Bloomberg's Legacy?
Opening Reception For How The Other Half (Still) Lives, a Photo Exhibit that documents a startling juxtaposition: the beautiful faces and dignified daily lives of the residents of this city within a city -- and the crumbling walls and ceilings of their apartments. Under pressure from residents and citizens' groups, the Bloomberg administration has recently staged a publicity campaign depicting a new vigor in attacking long-deferred maintenance needs in public housing. Ana Brigida Moreira's photographs show just how far Mayor Bloomberg has to go if he is serious about protecting this vital part of the city's housing stock, and the health of its residents. http://facebook.com/SouthBronxChurches
