Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD)


What?
MA-EPD allows working people with disabilities to qualify for Medical Assistance (MA) with no upper income limit and higher asset limits than regular MA. The purpose of the program is to encourage people with disabilities to work and enjoy the benefits of being employed. What happens if a person loses his or her job or cannot work due to a medical condition? If an individual loses his or her job but is not at fault for the job loss, that person can remain on MA -EPD for up to four months while job searching. The individual cannot remain on MA -EPD if the job search is not successful. An individual who is unable to work for medical reasons can stay on MA-EPD for up to four months. The individual must have a written and signed doctors statement that says he or she is expected to return to work within four months. If the individual cannot return to work within four months, he or she cannot remain on MA-EPD.
