How?

The SSAs first choice for an individuals Representative Payee is a family member or friend that will see the individual often and cares about his or her needs. If there is no family or friends willing to help with money management, the SSA assigns a qualified organization to fulfill this role. If an individual decides that they do not need a Representative Payee after beginning the application process, he or she has 60 days to contact the SSA to appeal the decision.
The Representative Payee was very easy to set up. Even the bank we chose for our daughters account was familiar with the process. Be aware that the program does come with a number of rules that must be followed. -Andrea, parent
