Minutes #2012-2 Meeting Date: February 22, 2012

Old Business Executive Directors Report Update on Pedestrian Light Project

Its finally happening! Phase I of the Pedestrian light project on Telegraph Avenue, between 40th and 42nd is scheduled to begin in the next couple weeks. Phase II and II will be scheduled shortly.

Old Business Executive Directors Report

ORGANIZATION Annual meeting at Arbor Caf, at 4210 Telegraph on March 28 Working on annual report for submission on March 1 Ped light loan is being revisited upon Bank of the West offering a line of credit versus a
traditional loan. Bill will resubmit application to One Pacific Coast Bank with the understanding the BID will have a banking relationship with this other bank and deposit approximately $200,000 in funds. Set up new extension (2) on 860-7327 to address safe and clean concerns

BID finalizing becoming a green certified organization; next step is to encourage more of our businesses to certify too. Attended BID Council meeting; focusing on improving Citys response to BIDs and their growing influence as City staff and services are cut back. It is important to ensure BIDs receive proper attention.

DESIGN & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT


New Committee members include former Promotion Committee member Don Lowrey and Ellen Kim, resident. BART Board Member Robert Raburn attended last Committee meeting to introduce himself. He represents MacArthur BART station and would like to remain in touch regarding future development plans for high density and height; he is communicating with BART President Bob Franklin regarding matching funds to Alan Leons $8,000 grant to continue work on 51st overpass; need to work on encroachment permits. Bob contacted us to commit $800 to $1,000 for graffiti abatement. Invite Bob to next DE/ED committee Desi Womack Community Rejuvenation Project looking for project for N. Oakland; committee suggested a project at 55th overpass for $30,000. $30 a square foot. Tim Anderson and wife Ellen Kim Temescal Volunteers held session to learn to create mosaic art for trash cans. Their first application will be the can at Tele & 48th, in front of 17 Jewels on March 4. A Community Bus Rapid Transit meeting will be held in Temescal on March 7 at the Faith Presby Church. Board members will attend to see if previous concerns voiced our organization are being considered. Safety 1st representatives shared observations from their first three weeks providing maintenance and security in Temescal. There is a lot of deferred maintenance, including cleaning up the parking meters. There is a mute man who is a nuisance; he walks the district dumping over trash cans between 6 and 7:30 am. There is a litter problem at Churchs, McDonalds and Jack in the Box. There are homeless encampments at 55th Street and at Aunt Marys to address. They are getting new colorful yellow uniforms for the Ambassadors and business cards that indicate both Temescal and Safety First and the phone number 860-7327x2.

PROMOTION
Held first regular meeting with Steve Tiffin to check in for Street Fair plan expansion July 8 o Exploring offering wine garden and glasses as part of this years event

o Exploring a jazz pavilion o Italian element is being considered for addition to the event. Quarterly Art Hop is scheduled for March 2; BID is providing support. Submitted three articles to TNV: New maintenance crew, Ped-lights, and Alley Cats!
