The Swinger Experiment

Igne Borisaite Problem/QuestionHow will the length of the string affect the number of swings in 15 seconds? Hypothesis I think that the smaller the string is the faster it will swing. The longer the string is it will take more time because it is longer and it takes more time to go around. ExperimentA) Materials- I used a 20 grocze, a paperclip, pieces of string, tape, big pole with hook, and a stopwatch. B) Procedure- We had two people, one to put the swinger string on the pole hook. Another person bring the swingers. We made sure that the swinger was up straight in the air horizontal. Then we had 15 seconds to see how many swings it would do. Then we wrote the length of the swinger string and how many swings in 15 seconds on a piece of data paper. We did the same procedure for all the different length strings. Observations and DataSee attached swinger picture graph data sheet.

Conclusion- The scientists hypothesis was right because, the scientist guessed that the longer the string is, the slower and the

less swings it will go. The scientists data proves it because, the least amount of swings was by the longest strings. The scientists recommends: If the scientist uses different types the coins, he/she can see if it swings faster with heavier coins, or the opposite. ` If you use different type of strings, wire, fishing, etc. ,the scientist can experiment if the string could be more strong or weak. Its necessary to have a more stable pole so, the string would go straight. By using a different kind of paperclip, the scientists can experiment to see which paperclip holds the coin better. Making sure your string is straight, so the string would go swiftly, straight, and faster.
