Playcentre Education Training Programme

Playcentre is able to offer a NZQA approved Playcentre Diploma in Early Childhood and Adult Education. The Playcentre Diploma Courses are used to assist your Playcentre with meeting licensing requirements on sessions. The courses are designed to build on the many skills people bring with them to Playcentre and are initially based in the local Playcentre, gradually broadening to include visiting neighbouring Playcentres and then the wider early childhood community. CDPA offers full support by organizing and running the workshops needed to complete your studies. They also provide a commentor who is responsible for assessing your work and to assist with any queries you have. The main component of CDPAs parent education program is made up of 6 successive components that lead to the Playcentre Diploma. These are: Course One Introduction Playcentre A compulsory course for all Playcentre parents introducing you to the culture of playcentre. This can be completed on session, generally over 2 -3 sessions. Course Two The Playcentre Way Should you wish to continue on with your study, course two looks further into the Planning & Evaluation, the Culture of Playcentre and its commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and helps to develop your Communication skills all tailored to extend your knowledge and understanding of the Playcentre philosophy. Course 2 also looks at Observations and learning stories in greater detail, how to complete them and their role in the Playcentre environment. Course Three Playcentre Sessions Split into 4 modules, course 3 looks at: Effective Playcentre Sessions; Learning & Development; Te Tiriti o Waitangi & Team Work in Playcentre Course Four Playcentre Practice Also split into 4 modules, covering Learning for Children & Adults; Inclusive practice; Safe Supervision in an Early Childhood Setting and Regulations & Requirements. Course Five Playcentre in Context Course Six Playcentre Diploma ECAE In addition to the Playcentre Diploma Courses, opportunities arise for professional development and general parent education. Upon completion of each course, the trainee is presented with a gift from Ashhurst Playcentre, congratulating you on completion of the course and as a small token of our appreciation.
