BASIC FACTS OF THE CASE Client Villafuerte was an estranged lover of accused, Medardo Santos. Client charged accused with violations of Republic Act No. 9262, on the ground that accused allegedly induced client to have sexual relations with him in exchange for marriage. Ultimately, accused refused to marry the client. GROUND FOR ARCHIVAL The client has lost interest, desisting from the case through an affidavit executed on 14 September 2011. DISCUSSION OF REASONS In her Affidavit of Desistance dated 14 September 2011, client Villafuerte recognized that the complaint she filed was borne out of misunderstanding of facts. Further, she stated therein that she and the accused have reached an amicable settlement regarding the civil aspect of the aforementioned criminal charges. STATEMENT OF EFFORTS OF INTERN The current intern confirmed that client Villafuerte is indeed desisting from the case. REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS Attached is a copy of the Affidavit of Desistance executed by client.
