Conduct a survey to explore fair use and intellectual property rights. Provide the Google Docs Form website for learners to respond to the Fair Use Survey. After the learners have responded to all of the questions, distribute the link to review the results. Begin class discussion with the statements for which there is the most disagreement. As students discuss the survey results, invite them to share any personal experiences that have shaped their opinions.
Once most or all of the questions on the survey are discussed, ask the learners to find one factual website that will support their opinion about Fair Use and Copyright. Learners should be ready to discuss their findings at the beginning of the next class session.
