The Challenge:
Since 2009, when I first joined the Public Relations Student Society of AmericaFAMU Chapter, we had a fundraising issue. We had not established any branded events to fundraise for the chapter. In 2010, when I became the Public Relations Director of PRSSA, we still faced the same issueNo branded fundraising events. As the PR Director I then challenged myself to develop an event that we could brand campus-wide as a PRSSA fundraising event.

The Approach:
Valentines Day was approaching and a great opportunity to raise money was staring us in the face. While thinking of fresh ideas for college-aged students, I conceptualized the idea of us selling candy grams. After getting buy in from the other members, we quickly began to develop strategies for the event that included partnering with Britney Laws to bake cookies for the Candy Grams.

2 We promoted the candy grams through street team promotions including dorm storming, digital marquees on campus and through social media.

The Results:
We sold out. The interest generated for the candy grams exceeded our expectations. We established a branded event which was my main goal.
