- The Druze Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash battalion reiterates its warning to Al-Assad's gangs and Shabiha (militia affiliated to Syrian regime) in As-Suwayda Governorate not to attack either the peaceful protests or the activists, calling on the Druze sect soldiers to defect from Al-Assad's Army.(1)

The Political Mobility


- Fresh fighting flared between Al-Assad's forces and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the Damascus district of Berzeh, Al-Jabal Al-Sharqi near Madaya, in Homos's neighborhoods of Al-Rabie Al-Arabi, Al-Qosour, in Daraa's city of Jasim, in Idlib's Jisr Al-Shughour.(1) - Al-Assad's forces continues bombing dozens of cities and districts, including Homos's Al-Khalidiya, Jouret Shiyah and Al-Qarabis, and Aleppo's Tel Rifaat and Klghebren.(9) - Al-Assad's troops detain more than 200 citizens from Deir Al-Zour, Hama's northern rural areas, and Homs's Al-Quseir, according to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.(1)(7)(9) - Spokesman for the FSA in Aleppo said that an FSA battalion killed 10 government troops, shot down three helicopters and destroyed a gas station during an attack launched against Al-Assad's forces in the city of Meng near Syria's borders with Turkey. On the other hand, four FSA elements martyred during that attack. - The government forces bombard the Aleppo's cities of Masqan, Kafr Nasih, Deir Gamal and Khirbet ElHayat amid reports about the regime's forces using MiG-32 warplanes in such attacks.(1)(2)(14) - Colonel Riad Al-Asaad, commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), rejects making "written guarantees" to stop violence and withdraw all forces from Syrian cities according to the peace plan put forward by the UN-Arab envoy to Syria Kofi Annan, saying that the FSA is committed to the peace plan but will give guarantees only to the international community and not the Syrian government, which has become a ruling gang.(1)(7)(9)(12) - Colonel Qassim Saad Eddin, a spokesman for the Joint Command of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) inside Syria, said that the FSA will respect the date of ceasefire on April 10th under the plan of UN-Arab envoy - In cooperation with the Islamic Relief Society for Orphans and the Needy, the Nazareth Humanitarian Relief Foundation provides the Syrian refugees in Turkey and Jordan with $380,000 aid.(5) - The Muslim Brotherhood in Syria denounces the Iranian threats to "Set the region on fire" in the event of intervention in Syria, describing such threats as a strifeinciting call.(1)(4) - Osama Al-Munajjid, a spokesman for the Syrian National Council (SNC) said that there was no hope for the UN-Arab envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan to succeed, adding that it would not be possible at this stage for one leader to issue a written guarantee of a ceasefire, as the Syrian authorities have requested, as the armed opposition consists of many groups that operate independently.(11)

Political Stances Syria

- Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz said that Ankara is prepared for any development on the Syrian situation, including war. Yilmaz, however, noted that Ankara is not calling for war, but that it will be prepared just in case. He also called for establishing peace.

- Emile Hokayem, Senior Fellow for Regional Security at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, describes the conditions, which has recently been laid down by the Syrian Foreign Ministry, as "expected", saying, "Through his acceptance of Annan's plan, AlAssad wanted to use this plan to pressurize the opposition, and he has already gotten what he wanted. I expect Russia to support such this request, and friends of Syria would be in a fix."(14)

- In a message entitled To the Entire World, Pope Benedict XVI called for putting an end to the bloodshed - The Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has invited Kofi Annan, the UN-Arab envoy to Syria to visit Turkey at any time to get acquainted with the situation in Syrian refugee camps in Turkey. Annan agreed in principle.(9) particularly in Syria and an immediate commitment to the path of respect, dialogue and reconciliation.(1)(8)(9)(11)
