SHERWOOD MERRYWALKERS MEETING MINUTES APRIL 2, 2012

The April Merrywalkers meeting was held at the BBC in Sherwood on April 2, 2012. Treasurer Mike Uyemura reported an account balance of $1,585.79 which included net proceeds of $248.85 from the Easter Walk on March 31st (93 paid walkers, 69 free walkers). A total of $73 was collected at the walk for the Sherwood Education Foundation. A motion was made and approved for the Merrywalkers to add $27 to that amount for a total donation of $100 to the organization. In addition, the Merrywalkers will donate $50 to the BBC Coffee Shop in appreciation for the use of their space on Monday mornings for club meetings and gatherings.

President Jane Leider mentioned that there were many positive comments about the Easter Walk this year, and called for suggestions to improve the event in 2013. She also thanked Angela Manley for her donation of the stuffed animals that were given away as prizes. Since the $100 REI and $50 New Balance coupons were not selected by walkers at this event, they will be given away at the Cruisin' Sherwood walk in June.

A lively discussion followed regarding how members should pay and sign in when they register for an event walk so that the AVA and State Association always receive the funds to which they are entitled. The following volunteered for a committee that will consider the issue and make recommendations at the May meeting: Linda Oeffner (chair), MaryAnn Hawke, Lynn Pittman, Mike (?), Laurel (?)
