GEO THERMAL POWER GENERATION

BY

INTRODUCTION:

GEO THERMAL ENERGYEnergy that comes from ground, power extracted from heat stored in the earth. Geo Earth Thermal - Heat

HOW GEOTHERMAL WORKS:

Earths core heat Water- Steam- drive electrical generators Turbines Area specific Geo thermal energy is localized.

WORKING PRINCIPAL:

LAYOUT:

TYPES OF GEO THERMAL POWER PLANTS:

1. DRY

STEAM POWER PLANTS.

2. . FLASH STEAM POWER PLANTS:

3.BINARY CYCLE POWER PLANTS:

ADVANTAGES:
Geothermal energy does not produce any pollution and does not contribute to the green house effect. The power station do not take up much room, so there is not much impact on environment. No fuel is needed. Once you have built a geothermal power station, the energy is almost free. It may need a little energy to run the pump, but this can be taken from the energy being generated.

DISADVANTAGES:
The big problem is that there is not many places where you can build a geothermal power station. You need hot rocks of suitable type, at a depth where you can drill down to them. Some times the geothermal site may run out of steam, perhaps for decades. Hazardous gases and minerals may come from underground and can be difficult to safely dispose of.

ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS OR BENFITS:

POWER SOURCE GEOTHERMAL NUCLEAR COAL

LAND REQUIREMENT (AC/MW) 1-8 5-10 19

Easy to operate Open up economy Much more efficient use of land.

CONCLUSION:
1.Overall,Geothermal appears to be a sound solution to energy needs. 2.Geothermal energy had ablity to expand. 3.Very cost efficient. Geothermal is renewable energy source.
