props relating to themes

The use of the rapper in our music video was a key signifier for our combined genre of RnB and bollywood.

We used props such as the Shisha pipe and mobile phone to connect to younger audiences as they feel familiarised. Also the props allowed our plot to develop.

The use of lust and sexuality within the lead singer (Yinka) was used to reinforce female dominance as well as vulnerability our initial line of appeal. This being a technique used quite a lot in the RnB industry- what we found in preproduction.

Forms & Conventions we developed on..

Also our dance sequence added an performative aspect to our music video.

The shots of the party scene were used to create the perfect misen-scene of an RnB music video, we incorporated various shots angles from existing media products.

Forms & Conventions we Challenged..

The use of glamour and luxury was not presented in our music video as we felt this was a display of a typical American music video and not a British convention to follow. We presented a more empathetical female lead to whom people could relate to all over the world. Also we kept in mind this would be a first release for the artist making it less likely for her to be over following in money, this gave it a more realistic aspect. In addition their was no display of fancy cars or over blinged actors also to keep the reality in our music video. Conventionally, one could argue rappers tend to be wearing silver chains and what have you but we felt even the rapper should be kept minimal in the display of wealth.
