SYNOPSIS
In this project a single phase shunt active filter is designed for a single phase non linear load system in order to reduce the total harmonic distortion of the supply and also to increase the power factor. Due to the Non-Linear loads the input current supply gets distorted . So, the current harmonics are present. This current harmonics will increases transformer losses, transmission line losses, malpractice(circuit breakers) in sensitive equipments. In order to avoid these harmonics SHUNT ACTIVE FILTER(SAF) is introduced to reduce current harmonics from the supply line. In this Project the shunt active filter is connected to the supply line. Here Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) is used as shunt active filter. The power semiconductor MOSFETS are used here . These mosfets are controlled by microcontroller IC chip. In this project, SCR controlled Bridge rectifier load used as non-linear load, which is triggered for a firing angle say(36 degrees). The SAF will inject the fixed compensating MOSFET driver namely IR2110 is used to drive the harmonic respective current to the supply line and the current harmonics are get reduced. MOSFETS. The proposed topology is simulated using MATLAB and

hard ware is implemented corresponding results is taken and the improved power factor and near sinusoidal waveform is obtained.
