What are the RELATIVE CLAUSES?


We use relative clauses to give additional information about something without starting another sentence. By combining sentences with a relative pronoun. Two different pieces of information in one Example: 1)I told you about the sentence. door girl 2)She lives next
How can we combine them? - I told you about the girl who lives next door

WHO (quien) To talk about people I told you about the girl WHO lives next door. I like the man WHOSE father is a doctor WHOSE (de quien) To talk about possessions

Examples
(1) I met a girl (2) her father is a doctor.

Relative clauses: types


The relative clauses we can classify them in DEFINING and NONDEFINING.

Defining relative clauses


To give detailed information about something or someone. Example: A teacher is someone who works in a school. ( More information about the teacher. Information needed it to understand the sentence)

Non-defining relative clauses


To give additional information about something or someone. The information is NOT needed to understand the sentence. That information goes between commas. Example: - The teacher, who has long hair, is from Argentina. (The information between commas is
