Types Of Articles
Articles are of two types:

Indefinite Articles (A/An)

e.g. An Apple A game of chess.

Definite Articles (The)

e.g. The King has arrived

Uses of definite article. (The)
The

must be used if the reference is to a particular kind or specimen of a thing. e.g. The gold mined here is of poor quality They were grateful for the bread we gave them
Used

in reference to a particular meal. e.g. The dinner will be held at 8o clock. The dinner was not cooked properly.

Used

before the names of countries where the name suggests that the country is made up of smaller units or constituent parts. e.g. The United States is one of the great world powers
Used

before nouns which name the inhabitants of the country collectively or as a community. e.g. The Italians are good cooks.
Used

before the names of mountain ranges or ranges of hills. e.g. The Himalayas are very beautiful.

Used

before the names of municipals or government departments and before the names of shops, banks etc. except when they begin with a personal name. e.g. The Grand Hotel is opposite my house. The Ministry Of Education.
Use

The before the names of ships and trains. e.g. Recently the MV Wisdom was stuck at the Juhu beach. The Rajdhani is an express train.
