This document describes four levels for the skill of analyzing and evaluating texts to support an opinion. Level 1 students can express an opinion without evidence from the text. Level 2 students can express an opinion and provide some evidence from the text. Level 3 students can clearly express an opinion and give detailed evidence from the text. Level 4 students can clearly express an opinion and provide all possible evidence from the text to back their opinion.
