Introduction

The reason we chose cooking for our curriculum unit plan was that it allowed us to communicate standards through an everyday activity. Within the process of cooking there are many different factors and influences that have lead to our favorite dishes. History, Math, English and Science all play equally large roles in the process of cooking and the creation of food as we have come to know it today. Cooking is a hands-on activity and as a result students are directly engaged during the lesson. Not only does teaching two lessons on cooking give the students life knowledge but it directly relates how topics learned in school affect what you eat and how you prepare it.
