1. Figure 1 shows the tank heater that can be used to heat the water. The temperature in the tank needs to be control in order to maintain the temperature at the desired value. i. Propose the feedback controller to control the temperature in the tank. Draw the block diagram.

ii.

The flow rate of the cold water is the disturbance to the process. Propose the feedforward controller to replace the feedback controller in (i). Draw the block diagram of feedforward control.

iii.

It is also possible to configure this process for feedforward/feedback control instead of feedback or feedforward control. Propose the feedforward/feedback control for this system and draw a block diagram showing this new strategy.

iv.

Temperature in the tank can be control by manipulating the manipulated variable (flow of the steam). However if the pressure of the steam fluctuate, the temperature in the tank will fluctuate as well. Cascade control is a popular strategy for dealing with the control problems created by such steam pressure fluctuations. Propose the cascade control and draw a well-labelled block diagram.
