LETTER TO THE PARENTS


Dear Parents, The information listed in this issue of our weekly newsletter will help you understand what standards will be covered this week in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Science. We will also cover some test-taking tips that will help your children on assessments. We will also give you some websites that we use as we cover these standards. While we study these standards, we will give the students plenty of notes, handouts, and study guides. Please make sure that they study. Thank you, Mrs. Jackson/Ms. Brown Ms. Jeffords/Ms. Bodrick

Fourth Grade Reading &Writing Standards:

Fourth Grade Science Standards:

4-3.7 Interpret the change in the length of shadows during the day in relation to the position of the Sun in the sky. 4-3.8 Recognize the purpose of telescopes.
Fifth Grade Science Standards:

5-4.7 Illustrate the fact that when some substances are mixed together, they chemically combine to form a new substance that cannot be easily separated.

ATTENTION PARENTS! The 3rd-5th Grade students will be taking a trip to Carowinds Amusement Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. Please note that if your student does not display appropriate behavior in the classroom or does not pass the PASS Test this Spring, your child will not be allowed to go on the trip. Teachers will be making final decisions based on who will or will not be allowed to attend based on these two factors. Students have been reminded that their best behavior as well as their best work effort is expected at all times.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS
PASS Testing for 4th Grade and 5th Grade will be May 8-18. Please study with your child to prepare for this standardized test; all subject tests will be administered at this time. SPRING BREAK begins APRIL 2 and ends APRIL 9. Enjoy your break, students!
