Schalon Baysinger Professor Jean Math2120 4/8/12 Volumes of revolution project: Purpose: expand the techniques of numerical integration

used to find the area under a curve to find the area under a curve to finding the volume of revolution of a physical object. Extend your understanding of parametric functions to create a 3D model of your solid.

1. Locate a symmetric, but irregular shaped object such as a flower vase, wine glass, margarita glass,.. 2. Use a ruler, or other measuring device (such as calipers or any other device which may be at your disposal) to obtain appropriate measurements of the object such that a plot, using Mathematica, is possible. 3. Use the data collected and the bottle project example to calculate the function of the object you used. With that function you will create a 3-D model. Then afterward calculate the volume by using the Simpsons rule or the Trapezoid rule. 4. Then use mathematica to get an exact answer.
