Skill: An ability and capacity acquired through deliberate, systematic, and sustained effort to smoothly and adaptively carryout

complex activities or job functions involving ideas (cognitive skills), things (technical skills), and/or people (interpersonal skills).

Skills Management is the practice of understanding, developing and deploying people and their skills. Well-implemented skills management should identify the skills that job roles require, the skills of individual employees, and any gap between the two.

The Skills Matrix is the crux of Career Portfolio. This matrix includes different skills and experiences acquired through classes, jobs, and other activities.
As you complete your education and after graduation, the matrix grows with your accomplishments.

Every section doesnt fill up right away; Portfolio is meant to be developed over time as new skills are mastered.

Skills include Communication, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Leadership, Life Management, Research/Project Development, Social Responsibility, Teamwork, and Technical/Scientific.

Experiences describe where and how you've obtained those skills, including Courses, Jobs, Service/Volunteer Work, Memberships/Activities, and Interests/Life Experiences.

How do you acquire these skills and experiences ? Skills and experiences are acquired through a variety of ways: internships, part-time jobs, extracurricular activities, volunteer positions, etc. New experiences and skills are also gained from your courses each semester. Academic or extracurricular experiences also help you increase self-awareness and career development.
