Lucas County Charter

Allow the voters of Lucas County to place a county charter on the November 2012 ballot.
A county charter is document of law granted by the state that allows the people of a county to define their rights, liabilities, and responsibilities of self-government.

The Benefit
A modernized County structure which encourages innovation in government, allows the people of Lucas County to control their own destiny, and creates a better environment for economic growth.

County Executive - Directly Elected - More decisive and accountable to the people County Council - 9 Directly Elected Members - 6 Districts - 3 At-Large - More representation for entire community Administrative Offices County Fiscal Officer: Appointed by County Executive and confirmed by County Council County Engineer: Appointed by County Executive and confirmed by County Council Medical Examiner: Appointed by County Executive and Confirmed by County Council Sheriff: Appointed by County Executive and Confirmed by County Council Clerk of Courts: Appointed by and report to the Court of Common Pleas, General Division County Prosecutor: Remains elected Audit Committee & Department of Internal Audit: Created by council to audit finances, compliance, and performance
