THE CORRELATION TEACHING ENGLISH BY USING COMMUNICATION GAMES STRATEGY TO IMPROVE STUDENTS VOCABULARY IN SPEAKING SKILL

A. Background of study Language is a means of communication, whether orally or in the written form. People who master a language can communicate in regional, national, or international communication. English is an international language used for international communication. In many countries it becomes a second language, but in Indonesia, English is one of foreign language and should be taught to Indonesian students begin from elementary school until university. Indonesian government has decided that English is one of the core subjects in the curriculum of Senior High School or madrasah tsanawiyah. In Indonesia, teaching English has a purpose in order that students can communicate with other people fluently and correctly. There are four skills in English : listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is obvious that teaching and learning activities in the classroom should be oriented toward the mastery of the four language skills, so the language activities should be designed in such a way that enables students to listen, speak, read, and write. Speaking skill is the most important should mastered by students in order to communicate in English. According to the 2006 English Curriculum and its supplement, the emphasis of the curriculum is that the students are able to communicate in English by mastering the whole skills. However, its not easy to master all the skills; there must be one important skill that covers the whole skills. Base on the statement above speaking is the most important skill that should be mastered by students in order to communicate in English fluently. B. Research problem statement Whether teaching students by using communication games strategy could improve their vocabulary in speaking skill C. Reason for choosing the topic The researcher choose the topic because the researcher want to know there is any correlation between teaching the students by using communication games strategy to improving students vocabulary in speaking skill D.
