The Giant Panda!

The Habitat
Giant Pandas are very special pandas so they are only found in southwestern China and the eastern edge of the Tibetan plateau. It was once more wide spread, but now only limited to 6 small areas. They live in forest mountains between 4,000 to 12,000 ft. near dense stands of bamboo. Pandas are nocturnal, so they are active in the night and asleep in daytime. They are mostly on ground, but able to climb trees. They live alone, but only come to meet a mate. They are very territorial.

The Body
Giant Pandas are larger than other pandas. They are 6-feet long and about 275 pounds. Females are somewhat smaller than male pandas. Females are pregnant for4-5 months and have 1-3 cubs to a litter. They are born August to September and weigh less than 6 ounces. A pandas life span in the wild is unknown, but in captivity about 20 years. They are listed as endangered.

The Diet
Giant Pandas eat a lot of tender bamboo shoots. They eat 30 to80 pounds of bamboo parts a day! They also eat some leaves.

The Predator
A giant panda does not have many predators, but its only one is men. They are listed as endangered.
