Intern Job Description Luna Media Group seeks an intern to assist with public relations and marketing with

a focus on media relations, offering an opportunity to learn the techniques and strategies used in press outreach for progressive non-profits, advocacy organizations and local DC companies. This internship represents an excellent opportunity for someone interested in learning about careers in both non-profit and for-profit communications.

Responsibilities:
The internship consists of significant media monitoring and research, as well as editorial work, press release distribution and media pitching. Responsibilities will entail a mix of administration and substantive work experience, including: Monitoring major news outlets and preparing clips Assisting in the drafting of press releases, media advisories, and other press-ready documents Pitching events and news to media outlets and working to generate coverage Editing and proofreading General research duties Responding to internal and external requests for information Maintaining press contact database and administering distribution channels Other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications:
Majors in journalism, communications, English, public relations or related fields preferred Professional writing, editing, proofreading and communication skills Strong copyediting skills, a strong command of English spelling and grammar; experience with AP style preferred General computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Docs Team player who is willing to pitch in, help out and make a difference in the world a definite plus.

Outcomes:
Interns will gain hands-on experience in communications work, including an insiders view of professional media relations Interns will increase their professional writing and editing skills Interns will have a better understanding of the political process

Other:
