Title of Unit: Consumers & Producers Title of Lesson: How do people earn money?

1. Summary of the Lesson Plan: This lesson is designed to teach students about how people earn money. 2. Target Population: grade level:1st grade skill level: students at all grade levels grouping: whole group discussion, small group discussion, independent notes.

3. Objectives: E9.1.4 Give examples of ways people earn money. 4. Procedure: 1. The teacher will review with the students about what a consumer is and have students give examples. 5 min. 2. Teacher will then review what a producer is and give examples. 5 min 3. Teacher will ask students to work in their groups to find examples of ways people earn money. Does a consumer earn money? Does a producer earn money? 15 min 4. Each group will give examples of different ways people earn money. Teacher and students will discuss each example and give reasons and explanations to see if it is a way that people earn money. 15min. 5. The students will write in their journal why a consumer as a job does not earn you money but being a producer does because the consumers buy from you therefore giving you money. 10 min 6. Assessment: An informal assessment for day 3 is to make sure that the students participate in the group discussion as well as write in their journal. 7. Reflection:

What skills do students need in order to be successful with this lesson? - Students will need to be able to use their life and experiences to find examples for ways that people earn money. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? - To extend I will have students review everything that was taught so far to get ready for the test/activity. What can you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? - I will work with students who dont grasp the concepts when the students are discussing in small group. Where do you anticipate having problems with this lesson?
