Title of Unit: Places Near and Far

Making A Plan: Reflection Page

1. How did you come up with the idea for this unit plan? I came up with the idea for this unit plan by looking through the second grade textbook at the different units. I knew I wanted to make this unit for second graders because that is a grade I havent done yet and I have been subbing for a second grade class recently. I found this unit and thought it would be fun, and I saw a lot of standards covered in this unit.

2. What was the easiest part of writing this unit plan? The easiest part of writing this unit was going through the procedures. The procedures stay pretty much the same throughout the five lessons, so once I had the first one done it was easier to do the rest. I also felt like I got a little more creative with a few ideas for this unit.

3. What was the most challenging part of creating this unit? The most challenging part of this unit was trying to figure out the best way to help students who are struggling. I struggled a little with thinking of the best ideas to help the students really understand the lessons if they were having a difficult time.

4. What suggestions do you have for yourself for the next time you write unit plans? The next time I do a unit plan I need to start further in advance. I started this unit very last minute because I had so much going on with my other classes, but I might have had better ideas if I wasnt so crunched for time.
