IT LOOKS like any old shed in
the corner of somebodys gar-
den...but inside is a different
picture.
Disco balls and keyrings are
hanging from the ceiling, nostalgic
posters line the walls and there are
knick-knacks literally everywhere.
This is the haunt of 74-year-old
Frank Peckham of Queen Street,
Horncastle.
For the past decade he has been
collecting and hoarding memora-
bilia and cramming it all into this
tiny space.
What most people would largely
consider to be junk or items to store
away, he takes out and faunts.
The result is an explosion of
sparkle and colour.
Frank said he decorated the shed
in this way to capture a past life.
He said: I used to like going to
dances and discos and it is a shame
to have to leave it all behind.
When I put the music on it takes
me back to the 50s and 60s.
A stand out feature of all the
items are the keyrings. They are
everywhere.
Frank said: When the kids go on
holiday, they always know what to
get me.
Stereotypically, a shed hideaway
has a couch, a TV and mini fridge
for some beers. The only entertain-
ment Frank has in here is his stereo.
He loves blasting out 50s and 60s
music and especially likes listening
to songs from the musicals.
Not surprisingly this space is also
a favourite with his grandchildren.
Frank goes through some of the
boxes in the shed and takes out one
containing newspaper clippings he
has collected over the years from
the local and national media.
A memory that stands out is the
time his colleagues at Gymphlex
had a huge lottery win. He was off
that week and missed out on a share
of more than 14million.
He said: I was disappointed
about it but you take it on the chin.
Frank frst started his shed
project after retiring.
Its my little escape, he added.
