LESSON PLAN Chicken Soup Unit: Personal and Social Skills Targeted Learning Results: Cooperative Skills Age/grade level: 9-12 Grade Length of period: 40 minutes Number of students: 20+ Equipment needed: 1 Parachute, 1 rubber chicken, 1 hula hoop (per group) Class Objectives: the student will demonstrate cooperative and inclusive skills while participating

in physical activities.
Time 5 mins 10 mins Activity Description Warm-Up: Use simple parachute activities like popcorn or the mushroom Explain to students that they are going stand around the parachute and try and launch the rubber chicken through the person holding the hula hoop. Groups must have all members complete a pass through the hoop. Students being to try ideas to flip the chicken through the hula hoop. If this activity is not difficult enough for the age group, add more chickens or use a throwing disc instead of a hula hoop Conclusion/ Assessment: Ask students what they learned about teamwork and how they managed their conflicts. Was it easier when the chicken was higher or lower to the ground.
