LESSON PLAN Flip The Parachute Unit: Personal and Social Skills Targeted Learning Results: Cooperative Skills Age/grade level: 9-12 Grade Length of period: 40 minutes Number of students: 20+ Equipment needed: 1 Parachute Class Objectives: the student will demonstrate cooperative and inclusive skills while participating
in physical activities.
Time 5 mins 10 mins Activity Description Warm-Up: Use simple parachute activities like popcorn or the mushroom Explain to students that they are going stand On top of the parachute and need to get themselves on the other side of the chute without touching the gym floor. Students being to try ideas to flip the parachute over. Give them hits as to if they are on the right track or not. If you think the class will get this task accomplished easily with a full parachute, use a smaller chute or a blanket. Conclusion/ Assessment: Ask students what they learned about teamwork and how they managed their conflicts. Do they think there is only one way to perform this task?
