Course Description This course is a continuation of the studies introduced in Measurement of Construction Work I and II and covers the construction details found in more sophisticated structures. The course expands on the topics of 103 and 202 plus introduces Divisions 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 covered by the CIQS Standard Method of Measurement. Learning Outcomes The student will be able to: 1. Properly utilize the CIQS standard form of Estimate 2. Measure quantities using principles described in the CIQS Method of Measurement for: - Doors, Glass and Windows as covered in Division 8 - Finishes as described in Division 9 - Specialties as covered under Division 10 - Equipment as covered under Division 11 - Furnishings as covered under Division 12 - Special Construction as covered under Division 13 - Conveying Systems as covered under Division 14 Course Content: 1. Particular attention must be paid to accuracy of description, measurements and extensions. 2. The scope of this subject covers Divisions 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 of the CIQS Method of Measurement of Construction Works 3. Chapters 8, 9, 13, 14, and 15 of Estimating Construction Costs Required Textbooks and Materials: 1. Method of Measurement of Construction Works, published by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors 2. Estimating Construction Costs, by Peurifoy-Oberlender. 3. Study Guide 103, published by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors Testing: 1. Emphasis in testing will be on the proper use of the estimate form, neatness and clarity of the estimate. 2. Accuracy of description of the item being measured. 3. Accuracy of measurement and extensions. 4. Method of Measurement of Construction Work will be allowed as an open book during this examination
