Promoting Respect and Rapport with Students

Do not use destructive words. Use Manners Give them the opportunity to be leaders (class jobs) Have a wellorganized classroom Start everyday with a clean slate Stay calm Use Multiple Intelligences Use Probing Questions Welcome input on rules/regulations Model the lesson to make sure they comprehend Encourage rather than praise Treat students with kindness Show interest in hobbies Give their own space (cubby) Let them work as a team Say hello and goodbye everyday Use I messages Respect Privacy

Make them feel special Make them understand that you want to be there Treat students equally

Be a backbone teacher, balance firmness and kindness Teach students to self-discipline

Show students how to work together as a team

These are just some of the reasons why we should promote respect and rapport, one final reason though is to use the students name!
