1950 Established about 50 industrial training institutes for imparting skills in various vocational trades

Objectives To provide semiskilled/skilled workers systematic training to school leavers To reduce unemployment among educated youth by equipping them with suitable skills Training ---49 engineering and 49 non-engineering trades Period of training ----6 months to 3 years Qualification-8th 12th pass

Qualification- 8th to 12th class Minimum age- 14 yrs Period of training6mnths to 4 yrs

Training imparted in institutions alone is not sufficient for acquisition of skills & needs to be supplement by training in the actual work place

Stipend Borne by the employers Rs. 1090 p.m for 1 yr 1240 p.m for 2nd yr 1440 p.m for 3 rd yr 1620 p.m for 4th yr

To train the existing shop floor foremen and supervisors in technical and managerial skills through long term and short term courses

Supervisory training

Better quality and productivity, ability for problem solving, cost reduction, application of modern technology

Short term courses---production planning and management, quality control, basic electronics , etc 5/8/12
