Chapter 4

 Azreen arrives at her house with her foster parent. She stroms past the living room and past the nest of gossipmongers headed by Puan Normala.

 In the privacy of her bedroom, Azreen confronts Datin Sharifah about the cause of Madhuris death. She is only told what was heard on the grapevine : that Madhuri was murdered and her blood was white

 Azreen wheels her sick mother to Madhuris grave. Azreens father Encik Saleh angrily orders Azreen to take her mother home. Azreen defiantly remains at the graveyard. Datin Sharifah takes Azreens mother home.

 On the way back, Azreen meets her old friend Mohd Asraf . He was a silent, lone figure at Madhuris grave. They talk of unimportant things, except Madhuris death.

 Azreen unpacks and prepares to sleep. Through the open window, she glimpses a shadowy figure with a long black hair(reminiscent of Madhuri) fleeting down the pathway. She hears the sound of soft crying as if from a distance.

 Lost in the memories of his beloved second wife, Haji Ghani declines Fatihahs invitation to come to bed. Enraged, Fatihah viciously tears down Madhuris olive-coloured curtains, cuts them with a keris and throws the torn pieces into the dustbin. She then goes to sleep satiesfied.
