with Americans Name: Jennifer Petruescu Subject area: Social Studies Grade level: 5 Time frame: 1 week Brief lesson/unit Summary/Description At the end of the unit, students will demonstrate their understanding of the conflicts that occurred between the European settlers and the Americans.

Students will understand (lesson/unit objectives): At the end of the unit, students will demonstrate their understanding of the conflicts that occurred between the European settlers and the Americans. By doing so, they will come to appreciate the struggles colonists went through as well as what the people went through during that time.

Essential Questions to guide this unit/lesson and focus teaching and learning: What were the major conflicts between Europeans and the Indians? What areas were they fighting for? Technology & Web 2.0 resources needed (hardware and software, websites)

Procedure (learning activities)/ lessons of unit Students will get into groups of 3 to create a keynote presentation on the information relating to the conflicts between the European settlers and the Americans. As a class, we will read the information in the text prior to the students working in groups. They are able to use the text book as well as the internet to create their keynote presentation.
