Dear Parents, We are entering the last few weeks of school. Now is the time to think about how to continue to work on reading and math over the summer. We have a few workbooks available on math and language arts. They are $10.00 each. If you are interested, please send in a note or call the office. Also, your child can continue to practice reading using the Superkids books that they have taken home over the year. They have stories and activities in them. They can also access the Superkids website anytime from home. In Religion, we will read Chapter 30, The Good Neighbor. We will learn how to be a good neighbor to others, role-play a Bible story and make I am Kind posters. We will also have an all-school May crowning this week and will practice praying the Rosary. In Math we will share a whole by separating it into equal parts, identify halves and fourths, complete a pictograph and solve oral story problems. We will also identify pennies, nickels and dimes. In Reading we will continue to have reading groups and read classroom books from the Superkids Club. We will read the stories Twins, Golly and the Flip-Flop Flap, The Rotten Egg and Lilys Fantastic Animals. We will also discuss pictures in a book, blend sounds to decode words and answer comprehension questions about a story. We will also be tested for report cards. In Science we will complete our unit on plants. Last week our sunflower plants had not all sprouted, but our marigold plants were growing. We will be taking them home this week! Reminders
We will be celebrating summer birthdays the last week of school. If there is a specific day you would like us to celebrate your childs summer birthday please email or send a note. Thank you! Homework is going home tonight. Please make sure it is completed and returned by Thursday. Thank you! The Kindergarten recognition will be at the 8:30am Mass on May 23rd. Please join us at Mass that day. The last day of school will be May 25th. We will have our all-school roller skating party that day. It will be at the Aurora Skate Center from 9:00am until 11:00am. Parents are responsible for their childs transportation on that day. You will need to sign out your child with me when you pick them up. (This is a dress down day.) Report cards will be issued that day.
