Mozart's Piano Concerto in G major

Background
Composed by Mozart in 1784 in Vienna Includes: o Solo: Piano o Orchestra: Flute, 2 Oboes, 2 bassoons, 2 horns and 2 strings Broken into three sections: o Allegro o Andante o Allegretto * One of the few pieces composed by Mozart that were not meant for him to play

Allegro
Orchestral Ritornello, or a solo exposition o Begins with violins and woodwinds, then lead to piano Development o repetition of the theme once with only strings then again along with violins and woodwinds Recapitulation o Repetition of theme with more woodwinds o Cadenza o Piano becomes prominent instrument

Andante
C major in 3/4 meter Begins with calm melodic line marked by an orchestral exposition and slowly incorporates woodwinds Change in volumes from loud and dramatic to soft Sharp notes to grasp attention Back and forth playing between woodwinds and strings at the closure of the movement

Allegretto
Marked by lively nature AABB form with mainly violins supported by woodwinds Introduces 5 variations o each highlight a specific instrument or group of instruments one by one Ends with a cadenza
