ABSTRACT

ANALYSIS OF CORE AND LOG TO SEE THE ENVIRONMENT OF DEPOSITION AND SETTING UP COAL RESERVE IN PIT 1 BANKO WEST, SOUTH SUMATERA

by:

YUNI ISWATI

West Banko Pit 1 is located at Muara Enim Formation. At Muara Enim Formation itself consists of 4 (four) stratigraphic unit in which the coal seams in the West Banko was found in M2 unit containing the majority of coal. Core analysis aims to describe the results of drilling activity, while the results of the logging is expected to assist in the analysis of sedimentary rocks and coal layers by looking at the pattern of deflection of the log. Besides, from log analysis and correlation of coal thickness can be determined, and the spread laterally as well as allowing to know the environment of coal deposition. The results of core analysis which includes the coordinates, depth of drilling, and rock descriptions can be known reserves. The results of the 11 (eleven) and logging drill point, a variation of runs lithologi research areas controlled by the unit of coal , sandstone, claystone, siltstone, and carbonaceous sandstone with the direction of sediment the thickening of the northwest to southeast. Coal thickness ranging from 3 meters to 13 meters. From the results of 2D correlation is known that the West Banko Pit 1 is controlled by normal fault structures. By following the pattern of log deflection according to Horne model, 1978 is known that the environment of deposition is the Upper Plain study area, the sub-environment is swamp, channel, levee and flood plain. Coal reserves of the results of the study area with an area of 75 hectares acquired by 47 million cubic meters by stripping the ratio is 1:2. Key words: core and log analysis, environment of deposition, coal reserves.
