THE NATIONAL PARKS


In March 2009 there were 58 national parks. These units are a subset of the list of units included in the National Park System of the United States, and almost all participate in the program of stamping of passports of national parks. Yellowstone National Park created in 1872, was the first national park in the United States and the world.

YOSEMITE, CALIFORNIA It was followed in 1890 Yosemite National Park and Sequoia National Park. Yosemite is one of the major habitats and less fragmented in Sierra Nevada, and has a great diversity of plants and animals.

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK The Glacier National Park is located in Montana, United States,bordering states and Canadian Alberta British Columbia. This consists of two mountain ranges, 130 lakes with name, over a thousand species of plants and hundreds of species of animals. The Glacier National Park borders the Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada.

GREAT SAND DUNES, COLORADO The newest national park, established in 2004, is the National Park Great Sand Dunes in Colorado. Great Sand Dunes reserve was created by an act of Congress on September 13, 2004.

LARGEST NATIONAL PARK In the contiguous United States is the largest park National Park Death Valley (13,518km ), followed by Yellowstone National Park (8,980 km ).

SMALL NATIONAL PARK National parks are smaller Hot Springs National Park (22.46 km ), American Samoa National Park (36 km ) and the Virgin Islands National Park (59 km ).
