January 16, 2002 Dear Sir or Madam, Changes Unlimited, Inc is a nonprofit charitable 501 c (3) organization that offers assistance to homeless individuals access safe supportive housing. We believe a primary barrier that prevents our homeless to gain shelter is facility required entrance / rental fees. Unfortunately, these individuals with no support often become and remain homeless. We are dedicated to this population in need, and our efforts in raising funds are challenging. With minimal recourses and funding available, our organization has taken a proactive approach in making a difference to a population often isolated and thought of as helpless without a chance. We realized community involvement in supporting our goals has been invaluable and the motivating factor in opening Changes Thrift Shop, 7911 Bustleton Ave, Phila, PA 19152. Our Shops number is 215-268-3215, (Grand opening was Sept 19, 2011). The thrift shop offers us the opportunity to fundraise full time; being a link between donations and a network of providers so we can help individuals, i.e., homeless vets, battered women, recovering addicts and mentally challenged with initial entrance fees for placement in appropriate housing; and/ or any facility that will offer services to the homeless that utilize other types of accommodations. Community support is essential and yet can be quite simple; we dont realize how important we all are in making a difference We are asking our neighbors, community members and business owners for any and all donations of new and gently used clothing or items not wanted or needed anymore and/ or cash donations.
