Encourages an understanding and valuing of self and others, which provides students with opportunities to work cooperatively in team situations and to enjoy more stable interpersonal relationships.
Promotes physical activity. Children need to be physically active for at least 30 minutes per day.

Provides opportunities for students to improve decision making skills.

PDHPE teaches and develops 5 main fundamental life skills, which are essential tools for leading a successful lifestyle.

To develop students knowledge and understanding about how to improve not only their own health and wellbeing, but also the communitys.

To improve knowledge about composition, performance and movement.

To develop students values and attitudes and improve upon their appreciation of healthy and socially just ways of living.

The subject matter of PDHPE is arranged into 8 strands, which develop and reinforces students knowledge and skills needed for them to become productive members of our society. These strands include:
