This theory is credited to Charles Darwin who proposed the idea that biological change observed occurs through natural selection (an adaptation of organisms to the environment through the inheritance of beneficial traits from parents.) Figure 1.1 shows how present man (homo-sapien) is thought to have evolved from the primates.(eg apes) over a period of thousands of years. This adaptive evolution is attributed to various factors such as changes in climate, threat of predators, changes in diet , hunting patterns, landscape and cultural changes. primate To do: Explain in no less than 100 words why man evolved to the present looking creature that he is, by considering the factors mentioned above and any others you feel maybe responsible for bringing about the observed changes.
