Under tabulate forum

I collected the relevant information through questioner of 40 students, who are studying 10 th standard. From the below table .we analyze the collected information under random sampling method Number of students Yes Watching TV impacted on marks scored Getting knowledge Stop watching TV during exam hours 25 30 28 No 10 5 8 Cant say 5 5 4

The correlation between number of hours TV watched and number of hours studied Correlation and co efficient of correlation Number Number x(X-X) of hrs of hrs TV studied x watched y 4 3 4 2 5 1 5 6 7 4 6 8 1 0 1 -1 2 -2 y(Y-Y) X2 Y2 xy

-3 -1 0 0 6

Mean(x) = X / N = 30 / 10 The mean of X is 3 _ Mean(Y) = Y / N = 60 / 10 The mean of Y is 6 =6 =3

Calculation of coefficient of correlation

R= x y / (x2*y2) = 6 / (14*24) = 6 / 336 = 6 / 18.33 = 0.32 Therefore the coefficient of correlation is o.72

Testing of hypothesis
Hypothesis testing begins by making an assumption about the population parameter. Then we gather sample data and determine the sample statistics. To test the validity of our hypothesis the

difference between the hypothesized value and the actual value of the sample statistic will be determined. If the difference between the hypothesized population parameter and the actual value is larger then we automatically reject our hypothesis. If it is small, we accept it. There are two types of hypothesis they are, 1. Null hypothesis 2. Alternative hypotheses Alternative hypothesis is denoted by the symbol H1. It is known as a two tailed alternative test 1. Right tailed test 2. Left tailed test The alternative hypothesis may be represented as 1. H1: 0 2. H1: > 0 3. H1:< 0

Conclusion

Impact of watching TV by the 10th standard student during examination or in general days is more. By watching TV for long time it reduces the marks scored by students and it also reduces the concentration on studying. Children are more interested in watching TV than any other activity, this gives the knowledge about the world, but also it has impacted on their body and mental fitness.
