Question 1: An analog signal xa(t) = sin( +3 is sampled at 6 0 0 samples per second. (a) Determine the Nyquist sampling rate for Xa(t) . (b) Determine the folding frequency. (c) What are the frequencies in the resulting discrete time signal x(n)? (d) If x(n) is passed through an ideal D/A converter, what is the reconstructed signal Ya(t)? Question 2: Determine the response y(n), n > 0 of the system described by the second-order difference equation: y(n)- 4y(n- 1) + 4y(n- 2) = x(n)- x(n- 1) when the input is:

and the initial conditions are y(-1) = y(-2) = 0 . Question 3:

x(n)

= (-1)nu(n)

Compute the normalized autocorrelation of the signal x(n) = anu(n), 0<a<1 Question 4: Determine the convolution x(n) of the following pair of signals by means ofthe z-transform. x 1 (n) = {1, -2, 1} 1, 0 < n < 5 x 2 (n) = {0, elsewhere Question 5: Use z-transform to determine the step response of the system y(n) ay(n- 1) + x(n), - 1<a < 1 when t h einitial condition is y(-1) = 1.
