This is an opportunity to purchase and own fast-growing tropical trees (excluding the land) on a joint venture basis, with a fixed return in 10 years' time. The plantation company has extensive experience worldwide. This plantation is located in a prime tree growing area of Colombia. The plantation practices mixed-species cultivation for disease prevention, together with common plantation forestry practices. The plantation is also self-insured, which means that more trees are planted than for which the company has financial obligations. The per tree purchase price includes seed acquisition, soil preparation, fertilization, nursery operations, planting, annual fertilizations, pruning for better wood quality, maintenance and care for 10 years, harvest and sale. The minimum investment is 10 trees for $100 USD, while larger investments are possible. Any purchase over $400 USD earns bonus trees that also pay a return. The expected IRR is 13%. The plantation is registered with the Colombian Ministry of Agriculture and works with the Colombian FSC certification agency.
