Infa PWX CDC is mechanism to capture changes on source databases such as Oracle , UDB , DB2 , SQL server and replicate those changes to target relation table or files. You can do initial load from source to target and then use CDC to apply any changes on source to the target. This avoids any need to look-up target tables to determine the change required. You can divide PWX CDC into 3 parts. 1. Data Capture : From RDBMS log files or database (SQL server ) 2. Extraction : You use PWX in conjunction with PC to extract changes 3. Data Apply : Transform and apply the data to target using PC

When you capture changes on source Informatica PWX marks Inserts (I), updates (U) and deletes(D) on source with flags. You can use these flags to apply changes to the target table. You can also capture history as Infa keeps track of the original value and new value of the column.

Changed Data Capture (CDC) helps identify the data in the source system that has changed since the last extraction. With CDC, data extraction takes place at the same time the insert, update, or delete operations occur in the source tables, and the change data is stored inside the database in change tables. The change data, thus captured, is then made available to the target systems in a controlled manner.
