Accordingtoinformationprovidedbythemanufacturer,5yearsafterLANAPtreatment,95%ofall patientsremainstable.1 PerioLaseisalsodesignedforintraoralsofttissuedental,general,oral maxillofacial,andcosmeticsurgery.Itisintendedforablating,incising,excising,vaporization,and coagulationofsofttissue. EaseofUse AccordingtoMDT,PerioLaseisversatileandeasytouse.Whenthe9dentistswhoparticipatedin theevaluationofPerioLasewereaskedtorateitseaseofuse,6rateditasexcellent,2rateditas verygood,and1rateditasgood.Oneevaluatorsaidthelaserisextremelyeasytouse comparedtoother[lasers].Anotherevaluatordescribedthelaserashavingaverysimplemenu drivendesign. SizeandWeight Whenaskedabouttheimportanceofsizeandweightwhenpurchasingalaser,2ratedthemas importanttoveryimportant,3wereneutralontheimportance,3saidtheyaresomewhat important,and1saidtheyarenotimportantatall. Anotherevaluatorsaidthattheweightisnotnoticeablebecauseofgoodwheels. CostandCostEffectiveness ThePerioLasecostsabout$1374.00permonthtolease.AccordingtoMDT,onehalfofone patientpermonthcoversthemonthlyleasepayment,withtheotherhalfoftreatmentasprofit. WhentheevaluatorswereaskedtoratethecostandcosteffectivenessofPerioLase,5rateditas excellent,3rateditasverygood,and1rateditasgood.Costalwaystoomuch,said1 evaluator.However,hewentontosay,Effectivenessabsolutelywonderful.Imaperiodontist andthishasbeenmyprimarytreatmentforperiodontitisforthepast8yearswithgreatsuccess. Anotherevaluatorsaid,Ipaidformylaserin11/2monthsofuse. MaintenanceRequirements TheevaluatorsratedthemaintenancerequirementsassociatedwithPerioLase.Sixratedthe laserasexcellent,1rateditasverygood,and2rateditasgood.Oneevaluatorexplainedthathe has2PerioLasemodels,theoriginalpurchased8+yearsago,neverservicedyet.Thenewer modelbought4yearsago,alsoneverneededserviceyet.Anotherevaluatorsaidthathe returnedhisunitforroutineserviceafter2yearsandthemanufacturersuppliedmewithaloaner whilemyunitwasbeingserviced.

Goodtrainingwasveryimportantforalltheevaluatorswhentheywereaskedwhatcharacteristics theylookforwhenpurchasingalaser.Since2002,MDThasbeenanADACERPandAGDPACE recognizedproviderthroughtheInstituteforAdvancedLaserDentistry.Whentheevaluatorswere askedtoratethetrainingtheyreceivedwiththePerioLase,8rateditasexcellentand1rateditas verygood.OneevaluatordescribeditasthebestCEever.Anotherevaluatorsaidthatthe trainingwaslongbutverygoodandnecessary.Athirdevaluatorsaid,Nootherlasercompany offersthesamequalityorthoroughtrainingthatMDTdoes. OverallSatisfaction All9evaluatorssaidthattheywoulddefinitelyrecommendPerioLasetotheirdentalcolleagues, andallsaidtheywoulddefinitelypurchasethelaserinthefuture.Whenaskedtogivetheiroverall satisfactionratingforPerioLase,8rateditasexcellentand1rateditasverygood.Withregardto training,1evaluatorsaidthatthetrainingwasverythoroughandmademefeelcomfortablewith thelaserbeforeintegratingintomypractice.Anotherevaluatornotedthattheextensivetraining thatMillenniumDentalTechnologiesoffersmakesuseoftheunitverysimple.
