CASE: World Class Company: BP

Question: 1. What has changed at BP? 2. What assumptions about change does BP make? 3. What does this company do to motivate individuals during the change. and prevent any resistance to the change? Answer: 1. BP has changed their strategy from cost containment to aggressive growth and changed their systems for implementing their strategy trough several new company-wide programs such as Quick Hits, Action Learning Events, and the Helios Awards. 2. BP started with assumption in whether the change should start at the top or the bottom of the company, and how change is disseminated. They decided to start from bottom and disseminated with their programs. 3. BP has focused on employees belief to motivate them and practically made immediate improvements and thus demonstrate to people in the field that top managers were serious about change that would lead to growth. In addition, company leaders involved and be supportive during the process.
