What are composite idler rolls?

Utilizing RStandard Composite Roller Tubes provided by RS Technologies, FMC introduces a revolutionary idler roll made from a combination of glass fibers providing strength to the roll and Version polyurethane resin which acts as a bonding agent. Compared to traditional steel, PVC, and HDPE products, this improved idler roll exhibits lightweight, strong and durable qualities. The combined expertise of FMC and RS Technologies has resulted in an extremely versatile product suitable for material handling applications around the world.

Advantages of Composite Roll tubing

High Abrasion Resistance

The unique combination of materials extends the service life of the conveyor system by reducing roll and belt wear.

Fewer Change Outs, Less Belt Damage, Cost Savings

High Corrosion Resistance

FMC Composite Rolls are much more resistant to acidic environments than traditional roll materials, resulting in
fewer change-outs and longer life cycles.

Reduced Replacement Costs, Increased Efficiency, Time Savings

Limited Expansion/Contraction

In both cold and hot conditions, FMC Composite Rolls experience minimal expansion and contraction compared to traditional plastic rolls thereby reducing roll failure due to stress.

Increased Bearing Life, Less Maintenance, Improved Line Efficiency

Lighter Weight

FMC Composite Rolls are approximately 30% lighter than steel without sacrificing strength. This results in significant energy savings when starting up or running the conveyor line, increased safety, and easier installation.

Increased Efficiency & Safety, Energy Savings, Lighter Weight, Higher Load Capacity, Reduced Noise

Static Conductive and Flame Resistant

The FMC Composite Roll is static conductive per ISO-284:2003 and flame resistant per MSHA-IC-244, thus highly effective in underground applications.
